Go Green-A Colour Challenge

Whilst Blog hopping the other day i noticed  a tag for another challenge page, so I followed the link and hopped over to them to find out more at blog.inspirationemporium.com.

The challenge for this month was anything green.  Having been playing in my journal I had a page that ended up greenish so I played a bit more and ended up with this.

I originally acrylic paint splatted the page, once dried I then gessoed the page this gives a great texture, but not seen very well in the picture. I used water colour crayon to give a base colour mixing greens, blues and yellow as I painted it with water the colours blended to makes shades of green I then played a bit more, the rabbit was one I made for the Tim Holtz challenge tag but the colour was not right, it fitted in here just nicely.  The words were a rub on, found in the stash and just says 'dapper dude'  The flower petals are cut out of different bits of green paper, done at the same time as making the mosaic for the tag below.
The butterflies are one of the paint splats, they stand out really well.  I blended the edges of the page with distress ink.
As Georgie said it is 'definitely green', hope you like it.

12 Tags of 2012 - March

Finally managed to finish the March tag. Inspired by The Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2012 challenge.

There are some fantastic ideas out there from all over the world.  If you want to look at some of them or join in the fun why not hop over to his blog and take a look

The inspiration this month was a mini mosaic,  Having had lots of ideas, some of them very similar to the many already posted, I hope you like my take on it.

Tally managed to finish hers as well, but won't be loaded until tomorrow, after the school homework is finished.  As normal she takes an idea and makes it work for her age, it can be seen here

Journal Page - A little bird

Today was the day that I was going to start the March Tim Holtz inspired tag, but no it didn't quite happen.
Instead we worked out  how to be able to allow our daughter to blog, her dad is now the content manager and she is the art director, her first blog was her Grandad's birthday card, which then started a debate on how to spell grandad!  If you fancy a look hop over to Mouse's Tiny Art House. I expect soon she will be showing us how to set things up, if only it was now, I look forward to that day.

I thought I would show you one of my journal pages, I really like this one, it makes me smile to look back at it.

Background was done with distress inks.  The flags made from odd bits of paper, the flowers at the bottom hand drawn. The bird again hand drawn and painted with H2O paints, one of my favourites as the mica in them makes them shine. I stuck the bird on the page, then had the idea of the type-rope, the flowers on the ribbon type-rope added to give a little depth.

The quote (which unfortunately you can't read) is taken from Maya Angelou's great poem 'Every Women'
It reads:-
Every women should know.
When to try harder... and when to walk away.

The sun is due to shine tomorrow in Sheffield, but wherever you are have a great day.
